In March my husband & I escaped the Minnesota cold & spent a week in Key West, Florida. During our time there, we rented a moped & explore the island while scoping out the best Key West Instagram Spots for you!

1. Key West Lighthouse

The Key West Lighthouse is an essential part of the region’s history since it was erected in 1823. The need for a powerful, safe light to guide ships through this treacherous waters became obvious almost immediately after US Navy established their base here and soon thereafter construction on what would eventually become one such landmark went underway.

2. Key West Postcard Mural

The perfect photo op for tourists visiting Key West is a vintage postcard mural located at the renowned Cuban Coffee Queen. After enjoying some coffee and breakfast sandwiches, take time to enjoy one of their classic cars on display outside in front if it!

3. The Marker Hotel Sculptures

The Marker Hotel Sculptures were created by a local artist to Key West named Adam Russell. These sculptures are called the 5 Watchovers – which show a combination of art history & meaning.

4. The Whaling Wall-Mural

With a vibrant tonight sky as their backdrop, Wyland & Guy Harvey created an unforgettable mural that is now known locally to residents and tourists alike.

The Whaling Wall/Mural was completed in 2016 after much anticipation for its reveal on Key West’s Waterfront Brewery overlooking the Historic Seaport – also referred by some people who live there or visit often simply call it “the Bight.”

5. Next To Marilyn

Another great Key West Instagram spot is next to the Marilyn Monroe statue at Tropic Cinema. This life-size statue captures Monroe in one of her most iconic poses.

6. Sunset at Sunset Pier

If you’re looking for a relaxing place to eat, with views of the ocean and live music on some nights then look no further than Sunset Pier. The pier found to the right of Ocean Key Resort & Spa – you can’t miss the bright colored, tropical colored chairs & tables!

7. Key West Memorial Sculpture Garden

The sculpture garden features 36 magnificently cast bronze busts of the men and women who have had a great impact on Key West. The story being told is one seen & read by 1 million visitors per year, it is one way for this small town to tell its story without filling up space with text!

8. Smathers Beach

Smathers Beach, located on the south side of Key West is a popular spot for sunbathing and beach activities. You can find food trucks parked along the road, rent chairs & umbrellas to lay on the beach, or even play sand volleyball. There are also public bathrooms & showers to use.

9. Southernmost Point

Probably one of the most popular Key West Instagram Spots is The Southernmost Point Buoy.

It marks the southernmost point of mainland North America. It’s an 18-foot (5 m) tall painted buoy that was put up as a tourist attraction by city workers back around 1983 and one you can visit to take pictures with!

Pro-tip: Get up early & visit before the crowds get there. You typically won’t have to wait in line to get a picture if you go around 7am.

10. The Southernmost Beach Chair

Pop over to The Southernmost Point Beach & Cafe to get your picture with this giant beach chair!

11. Dry Tortugas National Park

The Dry Tortugas National Park is a hidden treasure off the coast of Key West. This protected area features crystal clear waters and white sand beaches that are perfect for swimming or fishing, depending on what you’re looking to do!
