Over Memorial Day weekend my family and I enjoyed a fantastic stay at Door County Cabin Collective’s, Porte Haven property. Nestled into the bluff side, along beautiful Lake Michigan – the views simply can’t beat!

Where do I even begin? Luxury spa-like bathrooms, a gas fireplace, a large screened in porch, spectacular Lake Michigan views, a Keurig and french press, fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances, and the list goes on.
Amenities
Door County Cabin Collective has truly went above and beyond when it comes to the amenities in their cabins – making sure you feel right at home from with a large kitchen including dishes, silverware, Tupperware and other necessities, a grill, outdoor furniture, firewood, a goodie basket, local resource binder and so much more!
Privacy
Unlike most Door County Airbnb’s, you can expect complete privacy at Porte Haven. This property is tucked away in the woods with a long driveway and trees separating you from the neighbors.
With nearly no one around, all you can hear is the wind from Lake Michigan blowing against the trees and the waves hitting the shoreline – you can’t go wrong!
Cleanliness
I won’t lie, I’m a stickler when it comes to the cleanliness of a stay (hotel or Airbnb/VRBO) and it really plays a role in the entire travel experience for me. However, our stay at Porte Haven was one of the best encounters I’ve had yet. They really go above and beyond to make sure the property is clean and ready for the next set of guests and it shows.

The owners behind Door County Cabin Collective have added impeccable details to the Porte Haven property and they do not go unnoticed. From the moment you walk through the door you will find unique design details and aesthetically pleasing home decor to accent the properties natural beauty.
Location
Location, location, location!
When we arrived at Porte Haven, I could not believe that we were within walking distance to the Washington Island Ferry dock, 9 minutes from Newport State Park, and drove on the Jens Jensen winding road (pictured above) to get to the property. Not to mention, the spectacular Lake Michigan views right out our window. This location is incredible!
Why Stay In Northern Door County
I’m sure you’re wondering “why Northern Door County?” and not the more popular towns like Sister Bay or Bailey’s Harbor.
That’s easy! Staying in Northern Door County allows you to step away from the hustle-and-bustle of tourist season in Door County. You are only a short drive to the busier towns to check out the shops or grab a bite to eat, but when you return to Porte Haven for the night – you can relax, unwind, and listen to Lake Michigan’s waves just like a vacation to Door County should be.

The Porte Haven property has so many unique features! Between the boathouse converted into an attached pool room looking out onto Lake Michigan to the luxury bathrooms, the large screened in porch, secluded yard, and a small but mighty detail – a driveway to fit everyones vehicle (we had 4 vehicles between our entire family, a truck and 3 Jeeps).
Safe to say, this property has unique and thoughtfully designed features to make your stay feel more and more like a vacation around every corner!
Door County Pet Friendly Rentals
Did I mention that Porte Haven is pet friendly? Although there is an additional cleaning fee, your pet deserves a vacation too! They will love swimming in the lake, basking in the sun out on the deck and spending time with the family.
